CIS 3810 Post 4

Github.com is a website for programmers to store code, make revisions, and collaborate with others on code. Github's headquarters are located in San Francisco, California. The social aspect is the ability to collaborate with others through the site. Over one third of the site visits are by visitors from India, the United States and China. There were 13,244,660 site visits during the month of January 2013. That would put the average number of site visits during the month of January 2013 at 441,489 (though the number of daily visits could not be found). The main language of Github is English and there is no native translation to other languages. Github makes their money by offering tiered plans which allow you to have private repositories of code, as opposed to the public repositories of a free plan user. The plans range from Micro, at $7/month, to Large, at $50/month. If I was more versed in coding I would definitely use and recommend the site. I like the ability to collaborate with friends or strangers in a centralized space. I’m not sure what could make the site better as I am not a user.
